Senior Laser Scientist

Austin, TX

Will collaborate closely with the existing senior scientist as leaders of our laser team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, integration, and execution of advanced nonlinear laser-based instrumentation for laser isotope separation applications.
  • Design and optimize beam shaping systems to achieve precise spatial and temporal control of laser fields.
  • Conduct experimental and theoretical investigations into light-matter interactions, with primary emphasis on spectroscopic techniques relevant to selective photoionization and isotope separation.
  • Oversee laser system construction, alignment, and performance validation.
  • Develop novel laser-based technologies to enhance process efficiency, selectivity, and scalability in laser isotope separation systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Optical Sciences, Laser Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of hands-on experience in nonlinear optics, laser spectroscopy, and beam shaping.
  • Demonstrated expertise in light-matter interactions, particularly in high-resolution spectroscopy and atomic/molecular physics.
  • Has experience with modelling optical processes and systems in Matlab, Python and/or Zemax
  • Proficiency in instrument control, data acquisition, and automation (LabView, etc.).
  • Strong background in data processing, signal analysis, and experimental design.
  • Proven track record in constructing, aligning, and characterizing complex laser systems.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency (Green Card) required due to program security and export control regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience in laser isotope separation technologies, ideally from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) program or equivalent laser separation R&D efforts.
  • Publications or patents in nonlinear optics, structured light, or laser-based isotopic enrichment.
  • Leadership experience in multidisciplinary teams involving physicists, engineers, and technicians.

  • Max. file size: 100 MB.
