Optical Engineer Technician

Functioning in an interdisciplinary team, you will troubleshoot, design, and conduct experiments on various optical based materials and systems which includes data collection and preparation of reports on findings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, design and conduct experiments on UV-cured materials and systems, vacuum deposition systems, interferometers and optical measurement systems, and optical handling and cleaning.
  • Collect data and prepare reports on experiments and results.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary team with engineers and scientists to develop new optical systems and technologies.
  • Provide technical support to other team members as needed.
  • Maintaining equipment and lab facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Optical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in UV-cured material and systems, vacuum deposition systems, interferometers, and optical measurement systems, and optical handling and cleaning.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting, designing, and conducting experiments, collecting data, and preparing reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
  • Experience with optical design software such as ZEMAX, Code V, and SolidWorks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in UV-cured material and systems, vacuum deposition systems, interferometers, and optical measurement systems, and optical handling and cleaning.
