Assembly Process Engineer
, FL
Responsible for the optical inspection and mechanical inspection documentation of precision optical components for the final assembly. Duties include incoming and final inspection. Will also be responsible for implementation of first article inspection with processing and collection of all needed documentation/certification of all products for final shipments per ISO requirements. Optical/mechanical set ups for the below responsibilities below without assistance.
Primary Responsibilities: Major include the following activities:
- Understanding surface Quality per MIL-13830 10/5,20/10,40/20,60/40,80/50.
- Ability to operate mechanical inspection equipment such as Caliper, drop gages, dial indicators, micrometer, Measuring Loop, Microscopes and CMM inspection equipment for in-process and final inspection of assembled components.
- Clean optical components for inspection and or final assembly requirements.
- Understand how to read optical and mechanical drawings for element inspection and final assembly requirements per drawing specifications.
- Be able to determine and follow the (MRB process for the manufacturing review board to determine the disposition of the components.
- Be able to set up and operate auto collimators for beam deviation measurements on all optical components.
- Be able to set up and operate auto collimators for beam deviation measurements cemented optical components using Nikon collimator, Pearl centering station, and Bob Parks centering equipment.
- Interferometry measurements such as (TWF)Transmitted wave front.
- Interferometry Angle/wedge measurements for optical wedges and prisms.
- Create traveler/work instructions for assembly product released to the assembly department.

Skills

- Proficient with being able to work with Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Completion and assembly of purged optical cell assemblies consisting of 2 or more optical components.
Education, experience, certifications:
- High School diploma required.
- 3 years of experience in optical and or mechanical inspection of components.
- 2 to 3 years in a manufacturing/Assembly environment required.
- 1 year of optical manufacturing Engineering.
- 1 year in Solid Works to design all assembly tooling and fixtures required for ant job.
- 1 year of Optical inspection of coated optics preferred.
- Able to work nights and weekends if needed to complete end month shipment requirements for final shipments.
- Able to complete and understand advanced mathematical requirements as needed and ability to document findings properly.
