VP of Procurement

A well-established, privately held U.S. consumer products company with over 100 years of operating history is seeking a Vice President of Global Sourcing & Supply Chain to lead its international supplier strategy and end-to-end supply chain operations.
The company designs and markets outdoor power equipment, garden tools, and hardware products sold through major retailers, independent dealers, and specialty channels across North America and internationally. Manufacturing is primarily Asia-based, with an expanding supplier footprint in Vietnam.
This is a high-impact executive leadership role reporting directly to ownership.
Position Overview:
The VP of Global Sourcing & Supply Chain will be responsible for global supplier strategy, procurement, new product sourcing, supply chain operations, and cost leadership across China and Vietnam-based manufacturing partners.
This leader will play a critical role in strengthening supplier relationships, improving margin performance, expanding manufacturing diversification, and supporting new product development initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, Asia-experienced sourcing executive with strong hardware or durable goods background and a proven track record managing OEM/ODM factory relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Supplier Strategy

Lead sourcing and supplier relationship management across China and Vietnam

Identify and onboard new manufacturing partners

Execute country diversification and risk mitigation strategies

Conduct regular factory visits and supplier audits
Procurement & Cost Leadership

Drive annual cost reduction initiatives
-
Negotiate contracts directly with overseas factories
-
Develop should-cost discipline and competitive sourcing processes
-
Improve gross margin through disciplined supplier management
Supply Chain Oversight

Oversee procurement, logistics coordination, forecasting alignment, and inventory strategy

Improve on-time delivery and supplier reliability
-
Strengthen cross-functional alignment with finance, operations, and sales
New Product Development & R&D Support

Partner with product development to ensure design-for-cost and manufacturability
-
Source new manufacturing capabilities for innovation initiatives

Support prototype-to-production scaling
Leadership & Infrastructure

Lead and develop sourcing and supply chain team

Establish KPIs and reporting discipline
-
Build scalable processes appropriate for a growth-oriented organization
Ideal Candidate Profile:
-
12–20 years of global sourcing and supply chain experience
-
Strong experience in hardware, outdoor power equipment, power tools, garden tools, or consumer durable goods

Deep supplier relationships in China; Vietnam sourcing experience strongly preferred

Direct OEM/ODM factory negotiation experience

Proven cost reduction and margin improvement track record

Experience supporting new product development and R&D initiatives

Comfortable in a privately held, entrepreneurial environment

Willingness to travel internationally
