New Product Introduction Engineer

Description:  Work with Product Development Engineers to design and manufacture optical assemblies and systems that will be transferred into a production environment. This individual’s goal will be to help transition products from the engineering lab to the manufacturing floor abiding to aggressive timelines to complete.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document manufacturing process (assembly and test) for optical, mechanical and electrical designs optical sub-systems (system and sub system level). Closely work with Development engineering from design phase in providing input for manufacturability into production.
  • Leads efforts to complete NPI deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Incorporate 5S and lean manufacturing methodologies in production areas.
  • Responsible to effectively communicate and identify issues during engineering builds and implement corrective actions to improve product yield and quality. Implement SPC in manufacturing process to prevent product defect and minimize the failure rate.
  • Diagnose and debug manufacturing issues with corrective action implementation in a timely manner.
  • Train production personnel effectively.
  • Prepare and launch ECOs for new products. Actively work with cross functional teams (program managers, planners, buyers and document control) to implement the changes, within a time frame, correctly and independently.
  • Provide support to Production and continuously make efforts to improve the current process for cost efficiency and time reduction within manufacturing.
  • Support multiple NPI projects to achieve department and company performance goals.


Education and Work Experience:

  • BS or higher degree in Optics, Electrical, Mechanical or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with assembly and testing of optical components.
